Acerca de Robert
I'm a classically trained liberal arts graduate and a certified ESL teacher with proven writing, speaking, and teaching skill: driven, punctual, and personable with a commitment to excellence.
After earning my Bachelor's, I spent a year and a half as a guide doing wilderness education for high school and college students in Wyoming. Every course, I would bring students out on weeklong excursions into the backcountry of the Rocky Mountain West to climb, backpack, paddle, or ski (all while teaching daily lessons in group dynamics and leadership theory). The experience of going out into challenging terrain and empowering young students to become competent, capable people sparked my passion for teaching.
Since that time, I've earned my Trinity CerTESOL certification through TEFL Iberia, and I've taught classes for students A1-B2 of all different ages and backgrounds. I love teaching and coming up with lesson plans to help students meet their specific goals. Watching learners grow in confidence and skill is the most rewarding part of the job for me, and I am committed to providing exceptional instruction and support for my students.

I offer private English lessons for students with a minimum A2 level of proficiency in English. After an initial assessment, I create a 6-week curriculum tailored specifically to you. Whether you are looking to boost your IELTS exam score, build your confidence in the boardroom, or simply connect with a friend in their native language, I can build you a plan to meet your goals!
Lessons are designed to build your receptive and productive language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Each session focusses on one of these major language skills while also incorporating a particular grammar, lexis, or syntax concept. Sessions are organized into a larger 6-week arc to ensure that proper attention is given to your current weaknesses.
Lessons are taught with a speaking-first approach. Every session will feature controlled practice on a particular sub-skill of spoken English (e.g. fluency, stress-timing, intonation, question tags, discourse markers). By consistently exercising your speaking skills, you will build confidence and develop an intuitive understanding of the language.
After the 6 weeks, we reassess and measure your progress!
