Acerca de MARINA

I've taught for 10 years now. At first, I started giving private tuitions in my village, and I had two students in the beginning. Then, two years later, I had three groups composed by 16 students in total.

When I started my first licenciature in Pedagogy, I started teaching in an Academy where I used to teach primary, secondary, bachillerato and adult students of all ages and all levels where I had to follow manuals and books which students didn't really like. So I gave it a turn on this way of teaching by telling students at the beginning of the class we weren't going to use the books. I had to prepare a lot in 10 minutes before the class. It was quite challenging because I couldn't take with me the manuals nor the books. I taught at that academy for two years. All the students I had where motivated, happy and passed their English exams at school or place of work.

During the months of July and August, I had this English intensive summer camps. I had to prepare activities and games for students aged between 6 and 16 years old for the Trinity GESE examination. I had no books just the syllabus where I had to prepare my own material resources. I loved doing this as I could teach in a classroom or outside. I had taught for 5 years at this company and all my students passed the Trinity exam, the majority with distinction and none of them fail the exam.

After that, I went to Belfast and I taught in a public primary school. I taught to P1 and P7 students English and Spanish. I also coordinated a Christmas workshop where students had to sing Spanish Christmas carols and I had to play the Alto saxophone. As a present, I gave them to each group a video of them singing with an audio message telling them that everything could be possible in learning anything. I stayed for a year there.

Then I came back to Madrid and passed the teaching training at Vaughan Systems. It was quite challenging and difficult however, I have learnt a lot with them. I had to teach their method which I would think they use a Direct method where I had to change every 5 minutes every activity in two hours. Everything was fast. It was good because students had to repeat the sentences if they didnt know or if they had committed a mistake. I focused a lot on pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar using questions and answers. Students were really happy with me. They told me that I teach with passion and care for my students' achievements and for them is very important.

At the moment, I am working in a new place with one of my best friends who I worked with for 5 years at the English intensive summer camps. I only started las October. My role is to prepare PET for schools, Cambridge, Trinity and people who just want to improve their skills in conversation, grammar or any other skills. I work with teenagers and adults. I have to follow books but I like combining different methods with different multiple intelligence learning methods. I like to create an interesting environment an when possible put everything into practice. Lets see how it goes.

I am a well dedicated teacher and all I want for my students is to internalise things rather than memorising them.

Motivation and interaction are one of the most significant cognitive process in education specifically, in children so as teenagers and adults. I teach English through life experience, respect, caring as well as adapting to any students' needs.

It is very important to show, demonstrate and evaluate through role-plays, discussions and games because this gives me a bigger picture of students learning by using basic or complex grammar structures, the use of vocabulary, pronunciation and the way they listen in general.

My philosophy is to let students discover their own paths in the language. However, students must be committed to working hard and the learning will come up naturally.
